Update on U.S.-Canada-Mexico Tariff Negotiations

Dear IEDC Members,

As a follow-up to our earlier communication, we want to update you on the ongoing negotiations between the United States, Canada, and Mexico regarding tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

This afternoon, President Donald Trump announced that his Administration has agreed to pause the implementation of new tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods for at least 30 days. This temporary pause allows time for further negotiations on key issues, including border security, drug trafficking, and trade imbalances.

We encourage you to stay engaged and in close contact with your federal leaders to better understand how these developments may impact your communities.

IEDC remains committed to keeping you informed. Our team continues to monitor these discussions and will provide timely updates, resources, and support as new information becomes available. Thank you to those who have reached out with questions— we are here to assist you in navigating these challenges.

Sincerely,

Nathan Ohle
